God Loves Prisoners

Red Ezekiel 1:1 through 4:17

At times people may feel imprisoned by circumstances and ask, “Where is God?” When turmoil shakes their faith, their minds reel with questions like, “Does God care? Does He have a plan? Will He help?”

In my thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God (Ezekiel 1:1).

After many of the people of Jerusalem, including Ezekiel, were taken into exile, God spoke to Ezekiel. Though the prophet was a prisoner in a foreign land, God was not hindered. He knew exactly where Ezekiel was and why he was there. God promised to strengthen Ezekiel for the situation Ezekiel faced. Those who would not heed Ezekiel’s words would be lost, but God had a plan for those who listened. They would be saved.

Our Heavenly Father is the same today. He can direct us and strengthen us in our time of need. He can make His intent known. His ultimate plan is redemption. He will see us through. Faith in God is never disappointed.

Thought for Today: Nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Quicklook: Ezekiel 1:1–3
