Complete Forgiveness

Read Jeremiah 49:1 through 50:46

Jeremiah prophesied to Judah during a difficult time. He lived through the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, and saw the captives taken away to Babylon. Judah had rebelled against God and ignored His instructions. God allowed Babylon to destroy Judah because of its many sins.

Jeremiah’s prophesies also allowed for hope. While the judgment of God was severe, it was not unlimited.

“In those days, at that time,” declares the Lord, “search will be made for Israel’s guilt, but there will be none, and for the sins of Judah, but none will be found, for I will forgive the remnant I spare” (Jeremiah 50:20).

Jeremiah’s good news is also for believers today. Because of the work of Christ, we can enter into a new relationship with God that eliminates our sins and removes our guilt. We no longer need to worry about the judgment of God, and we no longer need to live weighed down by feelings of guilt from our past. God has completely forgiven us.

Prayer Suggestion: God, thank You for freeing me from judgment and guilt.
